E. Tautz

Please enjoy the wonderful clothing of E. Tautz, Savile Row, London. These photos are culled from their A/W 09 and S/S 10 lines.

What I find most engaging about these lines is how finely they balance traditional British style with modern attitude, as well as injecting a youthful energy that never feels forced. Garments like the double breasted jacket or woolen sweater vest are infused with a touch of whimsy, but retain a certain easy earnestness. It’s this combination that creates what I think truly defines these lines: elegance.

Should you take the time to visit their site, I encourage reading their piece on “The Art of Wardrobe Building.” Approaching one’s wardrobe as one would collecting art is a lovely analogy, and one that I think captures the role that style plays in a person’s identity.

For me, the garments I choose represent a spectrum of my life: they reflect the other items in my wardrobe, the things I have collected and the looks I have pursued, but they are also aspirational, in that they point to the new ideas I am exploring. Clothing represents the location where past and future intersect; that is, who I am today.
